Our Mission: To rescue, rehabilitate and give sanctuary to abused animals. Through
the interaction with our animals people learn reverence for all life.
Emergency Calf Rescue
At a cattle ranch in California there was a mom and baby calf. The mom died of unknown
causes and the baby was found trying to fend for himself. Another mom
cow and her baby kind of took him in and adopted him. Then the other
mom fell in a ravine and died also, leaving both babies orphaned, the
first baby orphaned for the second time!
The baby
cows are temporarily being housed in the breezeway of a horse barn at
the cattle ranch. We got a call today from a woman who boards her
horse at a neighboring ranch. She became aware of the two baby calves
and has asked us for help in rescuing them. We are unclear as to why
the moms are dying, so we need to quarantine them and put them under 24
hour care as soon as possible.
The Gentle Barn wants to
take them in, make sure they are healthy, give them the right nutrients,
and when they are big and strong, they both can join our herd of cows
and live here for the rest of their lives safe and sound.
