Rosie the pig, living in sanctuary at The Gentle Barn Missouri
Rosie was raised on a pig farm for slaughter, but during a flood she was swept away. A nearby family took her in and raised her as a pet. But when she grew too big, they planned to send her to slaughter if they couldn't find a home for her. Thanks to Esther the Wonder Pig’s army, we were connected and were delighted to have her as our very first piggy in Missouri.
Because Rosie had no boundaries with her first family, she thought she was the boss. When she first arrived at The Gentle Barn, she would bite and charge at us when she didn’t get what she wanted. She also went into heat, but after she was spayed, her hormones leveled out, and she became a humble, sweet girl. Now, she always approaches us with respect, and is very gentle with everyone.
She loves getting her back scratched with a rake, she gets belly rubs after dinner every night, loves to fetch sticks, and she will live a very happy, loved life here with us in Missouri.
