Read Mamma Dear's Story (In Memoriam)
"Mamma Dear" was rescued from the racetrack, where her frail body was severely damaged. She was several hundred pounds underweight and her muscles were so torn that she could hardly move.
We treated her with continual deep tissue equine massage therapy until she could move around. Once we restored her physical health, we knew that it was time to work on her spirit, which was completely crushed due to years of being treated like a machine. She believed that if a person came near her they were going to hit or hurt her.
More than a year after her rescue she finally let us pet her without bracing for the blow. She slowly started getting used to her daily massage and grooming session and we started to see joy in her eyes instead of lonely despair.
She loved the children and would stand still for them for hours so that they can groom her.
