Read Einstein's Story (In Memoriam)
Einstein was feral, living in an abandoned 20-acre lot. People from the community tried to capture him for three years to no avail. Einstein would outsmart and outrun them all. In the dead of winter, the neighbors told us about him. The land was covered in snow, there was no food except some dead fallen leaves and no water. He was just down the road from us and we wanted to help him. We set up a feeding station for Einstein in the same place, at the same time every single day with a bucket full of grain, a bucket full of warm water, and organic fresh hay. Einstein started to rely on sustenance and as he would eat the food and drink the warm water we slowly set up a fence around him until one day the fence was complete with Einstein in the middle of it. We were able to gently catch him and bring him to The Gentle Barn.
For the rest of his life, Einstein got the freshest food, thickest bedding, and cleanest water, and was surrounded by friends, humans, and animals alike. Einstein slowly began to trust humans and forgive his past, even allowing guests to pet him and admire him. Einstein’s favorite thing was being groomed by our staff and fed bedtime cookies which he devoured. In his senior years, Einstein got Acupuncture, chiropractics, Massage Therapy, Jill and Joan CBD, Sun Chlorella algae superfood, energy healing, and the companionship of volunteers and staff throughout the day. It was an honor to have Einstein with us and a privilege to serve him, care for him, love him, and know him.
