Our baby gosling, Angel Aurora Dawn was born here at The Gentle Barn after 32 days on 04/18/2020 2:45am PST
A man found an egg on a golf course washed up by a rainstorm. He searched far and wide for its nest and could not find it. He then called wildlife rescuers but was told that they would not take an egg, only an actual animal, and it was suggested that he throw it away. But the egg was still warm and he could not bring himself to toss it. Instead he called The Gentle Barn and we agreed to take it. We had no idea if it was viable, but after a week in the incubator, we candled the egg and sure enough there was someone growing inside. The yolk turned black, and the black dot grew larger and larger, and in the last couple of weeks we could see a bird moving around inside the egg. Thirty two days later the egg cracked and out came this little angel. We are not sure yet what kind of goose she is, but we do know that we will love and care for her for the rest of her life as part of our family. While she is tiny she will sleep in bed with us in the crook of our neck. When she is old enough we will take her to swim and eat grass. And when she is full grown she will live in our barnyard with our other animals and have a great life showing our guests how smart, affectionate, and magical geese are.
