Ellen and Portia DeGeneres' Adopted Cows

Madonna and Holy were rescued from the dairy industry where they were
taken away form their moms at birth. Holy was stomped so she could not
walk and Madonna was chained so she could not walk. Both were sent to
slaughter when they were 8 weeks old but by the time they got to auction
they were both too sick to stand. We took them home to The Gentle Barn
and worked tirelessly, round the clock for months to save them. We gave
them algae super food to boost their immune systems, excellent vet care
for their pneumonia, skin fungus and eye infections, and lots of TLC to
give them something to live for. We also gave Holy chiropractic to
straighten her crooked, broken spine. It took several months, but they
are now big, healthy and happy and their favorite thing to do is lie in
our laps. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi named them and talk about
them often on The Ellen Show as their adopted cow babies.
